The thought of writing about myself or my work as never been something I have been comfortable with. But now I’m slowly realizing the value of such a task.

As I move into my sixth year of business, I reflect on all of the ups and downs of being self-employed, the relationships built and nurtured. I’m excited about the new challenges and projects ahead and the desire to create the brand and business that I dream of.

Certain shapes and geometries have found their way into my product design in recent months, and I am struck by how they have a symbolic connection to my work:

• Hexagon: (from Greek ἕξ hex, “six” and γωνία, gonía, “corner, angle”). An appropriate shape for my sixth year of business.
• Octagon: (from Greek octagōnos ‘eight-angled’ ). I think of eight as a valuable number in music and in design. It’s balanced, even, stable.

Music and design have long been an important part of my life and they are both two creative endeavors that I continue to pursue. Having recently moved my drums into my office/workshop space, I can now continue to chip away at both.

As a metal fabrication business that takes on a wide range of projects, it’s important for me to feed my creativity in ways that both I and my customers can benefit from.
